John Ciovacco presents for USGBC Upstate NY Sustainable Speakers Series

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) New York Upstate Chapter welcomed John Ciovacco to speak on Ground Source Heat Pump (GSHP) Systems at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on September 10th.

John discussed how GSHP systems differ from “Hot Rocks” geothermal technology, the basic approaches to make a thermal connection to the ground, and GSHP-Hybrid HVAC systems for buildings. He also presented the difference between energy efficiency and cost effectiveness and how it applies to selection of a GSHP system for a building.
